FULL PROPOSAL PENDING
I have researched multiple forms of city government from across the country
and several are of interest. The five(5) that I base my positions on, are;
Douglas City-Arizona, Atlanta-Georgia, Baltimore-Maryland, Corpus
Christi-Texas and Madison-Wisconsin. In most cases they are comprised of
a Mayor and Council members elected by city residents for four-year terms.

The Mayor is elected at large, which means that registered voters from all
city district's, ward's and/or precients cast their ballots for mayoral
candidates. Council members are elected by registered voters residing
within their respective wards unless they are At-Large, the Council
President is also elected At-Large.

The Mayor and Council members in some cases have equal voting power to
create, pass, or disapprove local laws, ordinances, and resolutions that
govern the city. The Mayor Pro Tem is appointed by the Mayor
(my position is
that the council president acts as Mayor Pro Tem)

The City Manager is appointed by the City Council, and is responsible for the
overall operation/supervision of government functions within the policy
directives of the City Council. As administrative head of the City government,
he/she is responsible for the appointment and dismissal of most employees.

Presently, a full proposal is being drafted by the FDL-C-PAC

(Freedom-Diversity-Love-Christian-Public-Action-Council)
, of which I am
president. The proposal will be presented to the city council whether I'm
elected to the council or not. I am passionate about progressive change in
our city.  If we are to move into the future and operate as the next level of
greatness, we must not cling to the past, or be satisfied with  the present,
but position for progressive change.
According to the U.S.
Conference of Mayors
(USCM) which is the
official nonpartisan
organization of cities with
populations of 30,000 or
more. There are 1,139 such
cities in the country today.
Each city is represented in
the Conference by its chief
elected official, the mayor.
Fond du La is represented
by the Council President.
SUMMARY
  • MAYOR:
    Elected At-Large
  • Council President
    (Mayor Pro Tem)  At-Large
  • Council Person
    (Universal)  At-Large
  • Council Members
    Five by Electoral Districts
All Offices Will Serve Two
4-Year Consecutive Terms.
I and others believe that a Mayor can better develop a vision as the indentifiable leader of our city,
seeing what it should be like in the future, and work with the council to that end.
